Jaw Plates for Jaw Crushers
Jaw plates are the principal wear parts in a jaw crusher and contact the feed directly. The movable and fixed plates reduce rock and ore by compression. Dimensions, tooth profile and material grade are selected for the crusher model, feed hardness and abrasiveness, and operating conditions.
Overview
The fixed jaw plate is attached to the crusher frame, while the movable plate reciprocates with the moving jaw and compresses material between the two surfaces.
Because the plates are exposed to impact, pressure and friction, the steel grade and tooth geometry must match the duty. High-manganese steel work-hardens under load. Selection considers feed hardness and abrasiveness, maximum feed size, crusher duty and discharge setting.
Plates can be supplied by crusher model or produced from drawings, dimensions or an existing sample. Useful identification data includes the machine model, plate photographs, principal dimensions, bolt-hole positions and required material grade.
